• How is the “pedagogical cycle of instructional events mediated by technology?
• “pedagogical cycle mediated by technology is that Distance learning has been a big trend lately, and technology is allowing us to use this tool more. Lately, a lot of students have found the school that they want to attend, but don't have the means to live in the same area. Technology has allowed those students to stay home, or wherever they may be, and still attend school. An example would be me. I am in Fargo, and don't have any reason to come back to Bismarck, except school. This is why I take all of my classes online. It allows me to stay in my comfort zone, but still receive an education of my choice.
• How could blended learning be used in an elementary classroom?
• The main way of blending learning to be used in the classroom, is to learn something on with some sort of technology. Research, watch videos, etc... Then go to a museum. I remember in 3rd grade, my teacher had us research planes. We had to make a presentation about planes. Once we presented, we went on a field trip to the Mandan airport. We were able to sit in a plane, talk to a pilot, and even got to go on a short little ride. 
• What do students and teachers need to do in order to use a blended approach to learning?
• Students and teachers should have knowledge about the different kinds of technology out there. They should be well informed on what is acceptable and what isn't. The educator should also know what programs/apps are out there. They should research these tools, and make a decision on what would be a great fit for the learner.

Digital Footprint

Your digital footprint, is like a footprint on the moon. It will never go away. Everything you look at, search, read, click on, can always be retraced. Erasing your internet history isn’t going to erase the data that shows what you clicked on. Making sure you have a clean digital footprint is very important. Educators, parents, employers, and even the government can find out what you have been searching. I like to say, “If you wouldn’t say it in person, don’t say it online.” This is because, everything you type on social media, or anything on your internet browser, it is automatically saved.

I have a personal story about employers using social media, to see how their staff were representing the company. I had a few co-workers who were saying horrible things online. They didn’t think that anyone cared much about what they were posting, but little did they know, our boss wasn’t so pleased. She could see everything these girls were posting, and some posts even used the business’ name. Our boss wasn’t so pleased to find this out, and ended up firing the ladies. I would want to teach my students, that everything they do online, can affect their future. Be smart, and be safe when it comes to the internet.

This is a website that I would use. It goes over copyright in depth. It describes the different types of copyright, as well as the consequences. This website also gives you some ideas on where to get content, without breaking the law.

I would use this video, when assigning a paper, or anything that you may have to cite. It is great at explaining what is copyright, and how it is more than just taking someone’s paper from online. It also includes music and videos.

Academic Software

abcmouse.com is actually more of a website, than software, but it is fabulous for students, as well as those with special needs. This program is a full curriculum, that touches on each subject. My younger cousins are on this website all the time. My clients, who have special needs, can even navigate around the website, without much trouble. I will defiantly bring this into my classroom, and use it as an incentive.

Post-It Notes

Hello! I made my post-it notes into Daily Morning Math! Each student will get a post-it, and solve the problem on it. When they are done, they will stick it on the wall, and do a quite activity until everyone is finished. Once everyone is done, I will go over any questions or concerns about the problems. I will use this activity as roll call, and extra credit!

QR Codes

Hello! This activity was time consuming, yet fun! I think this would be a great activity to bring into the classroom. In my classroom, the students and I would take a "trip" around the world. With the QR codes, it takes them to cities across the United States. These sites have information about the city, as well as some activities for them to do there. In the end, I will have students come up with their top 5 places they would enjoy going to. In a sense, we are making bucket lists.

2.       What are the pros and cons of the different types of reference software available online?

a.       Pros: Multiple sites, easy access, many examples

b.       Cons: Information may not be correct, can be confusing

3.       What is imaging software?

a.       The family of software packages that convert or alter digital images.

4.       What are three examples of education games? What are the pros/cons of their use?

                                                               i.      For these types of games, students can depend on them a little too much. Once they realize that the game can teach them the same thing I can, they may become resentful to my teachings.

Classroom Management Application

The first application that I am reviewing is ClassDojo. This app allows the educator and students to connect. It also allows the educator to connect with parents. As I was looking through the application, it looks like Instagram. We can share pictures that the educator takes in the classroom. ClassDojo helps educators communicate what needs to be done in the classroom, as well as the classroom values. It takes communication to a whole new level. 

The second application is called Remind. This application allows parents and the educator to connect in real time. It gives you our class schedule in advance. It is versatile between technology devices, and can be translated between 70 different languages. This application allows the educator see who is missing out on notifications. This application is the “key” to communication.

Time- Saving Apps for the Busy Teacher

Do you ever struggle to connect with students? Technology has advanced so much, that our students do use pen and paper anymore. iTunes U is a new tool that can help you reach out to your students. It helps you hand out assignments, details, and feedback. It is also a tool for students to reach out to you. You can hold private conversations, as well as grade a student's work. This application is also compatible with many other applications.

Do you have that one student, who seems like the smartest person in papers, but can't get a single question right on a test? Ever wonder if they are copying someone else's work? If so, then you need to check out Viper. Viper is a plagiarism check site. It allows you to upload the whole paper. It searches more than 10 billion sites. This will give you the power to outsmart the copy cats.

The Pro's and Con's of Search Engines

Hello!

As I was going through these search engines, they bought back many memories of elementary school

Pros:
1. They are safe. They have protection for certain searches, which I think is very important in today's society.
2. KidRex was very easy to use. It felt like a google for students.

3. Three out of the four gave me decent information.

Cons:
1.One of the search engines didn't have much when searching. I searched about five different topics, and it kept saying "0 Results."

2. I came across this message multiple times. I searched "Matterhorn Mountain", and this message popped up. It translated into an error page. Not sure what happened, but every time I searched, this message came up.

3. I overall wasn't a fan of these search engines. I felt as if I was on yahoo.com or midco.net. I am a person who is dedicated to google. I think that it is the only engine I trust.

Assistive Technology- Anne Carlsen Center

Hello!

This video made my heart melt. I work with someone who has Cerebral Palsy, so I could connect with this video on a different level.

I am beyond ecstatic to know that there is technology out there to help people with disabilities. Just like Sadie has a MacBook and iPhone, my client has a Dynavox. A Dynavox is a tablet that helps with speech. My client can speak, but it does take some time getting used to. With the Dynavox, she can write out sentences, and it reads it back to us. It is a handy tool to have for new staff.

Again, I think that it is great that people who want to learn have technology available to them. Technology is so diverse, that people can adapt to it.

a.       Random Access Memory, also known as RAM.

a.       Gestures and Voice Recognition have evolved.

3.       Why do teachers need foundational computer literacy?

a.       Computers are ever-changing, and should be supporting the classroom. They shouldn’t hinder learning activities.

a.       Advantages are: thinner and lighter. They are also easier to position.

b.       Disadvantages are: they are easy to scratch and sensitive to touch, they are also more complexed to clean.

Designing Quality Instruction

I picked the topic: Dynamic Instruction Design Model. This is also known as the DID Model. The DID model has five steps.

1.  Know the learner
1. An educator must know the needs of the classroom.
1. A main need is knowing the style of the classroom. Is the classroom a learning style or a cognitive style, or Dominant intelligence.
2. Once the educator knows the need, and starts to implement styles, he/she should follow up with each student and adjust as needed.
2. Standards-Aligned Performance Objectives
1. This is also known as Learning Outcomes.
1. These state objectives before hand to stay focus.
1. These objectives include: Stem, Target Performance, Assessment Method, and Criterion for Success.
2. This is also where Bloom's Taxonomy comes in.
1. There are two different types of the Taxonomy.

1. This should be grounded in good pedagogy and reflect the pedagogical cycle.

1. By identifying teaching and learning strategies first, an educator should be able to make a clear choice on what strategies are best before using them with technology.
2. Educators sometimes include technology in all of their subjects, limiting paper and pen instruction.
5. Asses and Revise
1. Assessing he plan, helps you know if the plan worked, or if it needs to be revised.

1. Students should be able to show that they have mastered the concept.
2. Formative Assessment is during, like quizzes. Summative Assessment is after teaching, like chapter tests.

1. Revision could be: more small group activities, peer-to-peer teaching, and computer tutorials.
